Race Buggy 3 Years, 4 Months ago
At some point i would like to buy a race buggy but i don't know to much about them.

Maybe you could help me out with a review of your buggy and why you like it.
Help with hub & wheel setup (bigfoot), seats, swan neck and so on. Why are they
used.

I Like the look of the libre full race buggy but don't know about upgrades.
If i was to buy new can you point me in the right direction of a good website.
If 2nd hand what kind of things should i look at to make sure i don't fling
money away.

Any help would be great.

ok here is a bit of info about the libre buggy....

Judith's buggy is a Libre Full Race buggy which is on bigfoot lights and a standard wide axle, you can upgrade to a wider axle if you really wanted.
There is nothing else added to Judith's buggy but there are options of putting extra weights on it, putting full big foots on it or putting disc wheels on it.
What wheels you use depends on what surface your going to be riding on.
I found the bigfoot lights are fine for Scottish beaches and handle damp beaches fine as well but, once you start hitting 40mph in the buggy it tends to loose its straight line ability but this can be combatted by putting full bigfoots on it, the disadvantage of this though is if you hit water at that speed the chances are the entire buggy will break loose and you will go sideways!! So you need to have a balance and know what your going to ride on. Disc wheels are fine for hard backed sand and work fine on wet beaches as well as there is less surface touching the sand but hit a soft spot of sand and you will stop or dig in!

One thing I am looking at doing to Judith's buggy is put more padding on the side rails though, the reason is when we were racing in France we were so powered up I was getting pulled in to the siderails when the kite was low and powered. This is easy enough to do though with some pipe lagging

As Judith said, the next time the buggy is empty sitting on the beach, give it a go. Its the best way to get to know a buggy, go for a ride in it.
Whats your reason for wanting a race buggy mate? Looking at joining the racing fleet??

I would like to keep my flexi buggy just for freestyle and it's a good size for
the park.

Not quite sold on the old racing yet but would like the bigger buggy for running
up and down the beach. Don't know if this is a good reason for getting one or not.

I think the more time you spend doing this sport the more you get hooked.
Don't think thats a bad thing.

For just blasting up and down the beach a race buggy is good, it holds the straight line much better than the Flexi. Ive found myself recently setting up the race buggy before the Flexi!!
I think its because in gusty wind you can still go fast, but jumping and doing tricks in gusty winds just isnt as much fun.
