As requested by O here is a review on the dirtsurfer or dirtsurfing.

Please be aware that I do very little downhill dirtsurfing so this review is from someone using the dirtsurfers with a powerkite.
I would like to add that I am by no means an expert and if you feel that anything I have posted is wrong then please feel free to correct it.

Firstly, the dirtsurfer is a two wheeled contraption ridden by those who are mentally unstable

I have lots of people commenting that my balance must be good to ride a dirtsurfer, the answer I give is no, as soon as you step on the dirtsurfer and apply some weight the front wheel stabilises. I will admit that as a beginner if you are traveling at slow speeds then it is difficult to keep your balance, after a bit of practice though it does become easier. The fact is that the faster you go on the dirtsurfer the more stable it becomes.

If you fancy giving it a go then I would suggest finding a grassy (not so steep) hill and start somewhere on the slope you feel comfortable with, once you feel confident enough then start higher up the slope. If you already landboard or kitesurf then it should come fairly easy to you. I would also like to add that you will probably fall off, don't let this put you off as it happens to us all.

It is my personal opinion that nothing can beat the combination of the kite and the dirtsurfer.

From a safety point of view I would highly recommend at a very minimum you wear a helmet. kneepads are obviously handy as well. Dirtsurfer also make gloves that protect your wrists and I can confirm that they work

I myself use a 16" freestyle dirtsurfer and a GP 20".
To the best of my knowledge the following models are currently available.

Dirtsurfer GP 20"

Dirtsurfer GP 16"

Dirtsurfer DH 20"

Dirtsurfer FS 16"
