Intro 4 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi all, new to this traction kiting lark but have flown stunt kites in the past.
Have Flexifoil Stranger, a few Kookaburra kites around the 2.5 metre mark and an original 6 ft Flexi Stacker, complete with broom handle control bar .
I need advice on what to go for or if there is anything out there on the s/h market. My thoughts were either a 3 - 4 metre Flexi Bullet or a similarly sized HQ Beamer, any comments?
My existing kites do not get much use so could probably be used in PX if anyone was interested. Or what is the best way to sell them, can anyone advise?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ron,
Welcome to the slippery slope of traction kites
I started pretty much the same as you on stunt kites and was about to get a Revolution but stumbled on traction kites after an online search for 4 line kites.
1 3mtr Buster later and I was hooked this lead to the buggy which then needed a larger kite for the low wind days but what about the high wind days, hmm better get a smaller kite aswell.
Next we get into the habit of always watching the trees/clouds/flags to see which way the wind blows, when are the low tides/onshore winds?
Now I'm not saying that this can be addictive but it is great fun.

Hi, I have a background of R/C model gliders so knowing what the air is doing is vital to me. www.soaring-fife.co.uk will give you a few clues to the sorta stuff I do model wise. I always fancied one of the early 4 liners, sorta bow tie shaped, was that the Revolution?
Rings a beel somewhere inside my head that it was??
Or am I just getting even more senile?

Hi Ron,
Welcome to the forum. Was good to speak to you the other day on the phone.

The Bullet was a good kite as long as you stay away from the 1.5, 5.5 and the 7.0, for some reason I just never got on with those sizes. The 3 or 4m would be good. As I said on the phone something in the 3m size would probably do you fine. I think the bullet was 3.5m.

The HQ Beamer, I would go for the new versions rather than the original Beamer, they have improved on the kite quite a bit since the original.

As I said on the phone, the PKD Buster 3m would be a good option and I may just have a second hand one available (will need to check my cupboard) if you are interested. I would offer to sell my 4m but it was my first traction kite and I plan on keeping it

Yes, Glenrothes to be precise.
We tend to fly the models on East lomond or Falkland Hill, wind direction dependant as you would expect.
Have a wee look at the web site I suggested, www.soaring-fife.co.uk for an idea of what we do, but don't spend too long doing so. The models are much more expensive than the kites . )).

I think I may have seen the club meeting one weekend when I was on the train heading up to Dundee, it was a good couple of months ago now but the planes looked amazing, Im sure one looked like it was powered by a jet engine!!!..always fancied it but lack of time and money stopped me, plus the thought of ploughing a plane in to the deck put me off Least with a kite it just bounces and keeps on flying.

Re:Intro 4 Months, 1 Week ago
I'll second that Owain, I bought an RC glider a few weeks back. Spent a fortnight glueing and piecing it together... Flew it for around 25 minutes no bother then a combination of pilot error and dislodged servo tray let it cartwheel into the ground. So if anyone want's an E-Hawk 1500 which is fairly badly damaged as a project to fix then give me a shout. (Andy I have to return you're battery charger and batteries to you at some point!!)

As Owain was saying, 3m Bullets are nice, but you can't beat busters for value, build construction and forgiving flight. They make excellent beginners kites and awesome high wind machines as well once you've got the hang of things.

Hi, which Andy is this???
Plus, do not think I will be at the airshow, they thought about inviting me to do the show photography, then changed their mind, bummer.
