Teuchter moving back to Inverness 3 Years, 10 Months ago
Hey all,

I'm a newbie, had a few lessons in France where I got my first couple of water starts - was brilliant. Haven't had a chance to get back into it recently, but I'm moving back to Inverness from Glasgow in the summer.

I've put a couple of messages on the other forum, but generally looking for advice on buying my first kite and board. I'm about 6' 14st and was using a 9m waroo in France. So yeah, any advice would be cool.

Great site!!

what other forum is there
if you want a range of kitesurf advice then maybe ask over at kiteboarder.com as most folk here will get you to buy some arcs, particularly up here

Welcome to the forum!

I would recommend either peter lynn arcs or the Ozone Instincts, basically because these are the only two styles of kites I have flown and loved them both.

The arcs are so stable they will sit above your head waiting for you to get the board on your feet and then your up and riding, once you get used to self launching them they are a breeze. I will be writing a review for the new Peter Lynn Synergy in the next week so maybe worth having a read of that.

The Ozone Instincts are really nice as well, not heard anyone have a bad word to say about them. Ive got the 13m 07 Instinct Sport and really like it. Im a tad heavier than you though so you could probably get away with an 11m and then maybe a 9m or 7m for higher winds.

Others will no doubt give you their views about other brands and the kites they like. The best option is to try and meet up with some of the 'locals', a lot of them you will find on this forum and ask them for a wee shot of some kites, I'm sure they will be only too happy to help.

Do you have a board?

Try as many different kites as you can.... then make your mind up
You can get a shot of my Airush Vapor and GK Trix at some point if you like both awsome kites and well suited to a progressing beginner.

You would be looking for something like a 9 & 12 M combo depending on the kites you choose.
As for a board your proabably looking for something about 135 - 140 long and 38 - 40 wide, much bigger and you will grow out of it real fast.

Thanks guys, looking forward to moving (some time late july) but I might try to meet up with you if you're ever doing a sunday session in the area. I'm up the road most weekends anyway...

Cheers
