TOPIC: Hey Guys

Hey Guys 3 Years, 10 Months ago
Hey guys, I'm Stu, 27 from Erskine (renfrewshire).

I've been flying kites since I was a pup, and 2 line kites since I was about 12. Just recently bought my 1st 4 line kite, Eolo Radsail 3m. I'll admit i'm a total newb with 4line Kites, as I've only ever flown by myself, and don't know any other enthusiasts at all. :/

Hope to pick up some hints and tips and get involved with any meets and stuff if they get organised (I don't know how you guys run things yet)

Anyway, Cheers

Stu

Hi Stu,
Welcome to the TK forum.

If you check out the meets section on the forum you will see if anyone is around in your local area and you can arrange an informal meet.
I tend to fly at St Andrews in Fife most weekends but have been known to travel around in the TK van and car with my partner Judith and our cat Tom.
TK organise events such as Just Add Wind ( www.justaddwind.co.uk ) and also organise trips to Tiree, this year will be our forth official TK on Tiree trip.

Any questions just ask and someone will be able to help you.

Again, welcome to the TK forum and maybe see you at a beach some time soon!

Greeting Stu,
There is no shame in admitting to flying 2 lines I have a few (As this lot will tell you!!)
As you have experience of flying then 4 lines will be easy, honest!! The only thing that comes as a shock is the POWER!!!! :evilhorns:

Like O, I am one of the regulars at West Sands, St andrews, and is You are around, come over and say Hi, (Look for the Black Pick-up Truck)

StAndrews is a bit out the way (when I don't have the car :evilhorns: ) My usual haunt is Ayr because it's easy to get to by Train, but yeah if one day I have the car i'll drive through and see if you's are about, or even just have a wee fly about myself.

Awesome, feel free to drop me an e-mail if you ever think about heading down here. Today was the 1st day of a 2 week break for me, so going to get out as much as possible with the 4line and learn my way about it.

on my 1st run I discovered that my brake lines were too long, as they made no difference at all (felt like I was flying a 2line) but I shortened them a little and now I think they work right, would like an experienced opinion tho! =)

If you're going to Ayr on the Train give Ardeer Beach a look. Think Its the Ardrossan train you would get for that but get off before Ardrossan South Beach....

Then its a short walk seawards to the grassy haven. Although i'd stay away from the sand to be honest. The wind is very rarely in a safe direction to use the beach without risking slamming into Rabbie Burns' face....

I know it well, got an aunt that lives in the area, flown my 2line there a few times. Thinking about going to StAndrews Tommorrow or Wednesday, checked out the trains, and they seem to be pretty regular, Although the train goes to Leuchars and then it's a bus from there, anyone any idea how long the bus will take from Leuchars to StAndrews?

or can even give me any idea where i'm going once I get to StAndrews?
