A kite on E-Bay! 1 Year, 8 Months ago
Hi,
just a general moan coming your way folks,my apologies but i'm a bit cheesed off at the moment!
I've only been into kiting a matter of months and loving it,its great. At the moment i own a wonderful 4m Blade mk3,a thing of beauty and a real bitch when she wants to be!
So,i thought i'd go on E-Bay and add to my collection,i thought i'd go for the Pansh Ace 6m as it is a real lifty kite[that suits me] also its a LOT cheaper than the Blade 4.9 so thats cool.Anyway,i see this 'nice' 6m Ace with me name on it and start to bid....I WIN!
The guy says its in 'exellent' condition with a few grass stains.....yes a few, alright i know these kites are white but half of one side of the kite was completely covered! lots of stains and blackish damp spots too! it looks as though it has been stored wet?Anyway, none of these stains will come off,i've tried warm soapy water but that did'nt work.I've contacted the guy and the kites going back, also i dont think i should be trying to scrub clean a kite i have just brought in 'exellent' condition,i like Pansh kites and was well chuffed when it arrived...until i opened it!....I just feel let down, whats happened to a little honesty, too much to ask?

Had a similar experience on Flexi forum. Bought 2 kites off the same guy but one was covered in stains which would not come off even after 2 dunks in the bath. It was plainly not as described so he agreed eventually to take it back. P'd me off that I had to go through the hassle of returning when he could have been up front about the condition or sent better photos.

To be honest, that's the only bad experience I've had buying off forums or ebay. Most folks tend to be pretty up front but there's always that worry in the back of your mind that the item which is winging it's way to your letter-box is a 'lemon'!

Cheers
Steve

I had a similiar worry when I decided to swap my 3 PKD Combats for a full set of PKD Centuries. I knew my Combats were in perfect condition with one of them only every being flown twice!
I sent my kites off in the post and a couple of days later the full set of centuries arrived on my door, I quickly unpacked them all in the flat and was over the moon with the condition of them. Was nervous though since no money was exchanged it was just a straight swap

Sounds like it spanked him so he stuffed it away wet then sold it. You might have a shot at him for not as described? But to be honest a few dirt stains won't hurt, unless it's oily or poo-ey.
Hopefully the scrubbing with soapy water hasn't hurt it any. Might affect its water-resistance a bit though.

Anyway, you're not alone in disappointing kite purchases. I once bought a pair of kites from a guy off another forum. One of the kites had a bunch of minor repair patches that he did tell me about (landed in a bush, he said), but the other had two completely blown cell walls. Pretty serious internal damage that I spotted as soon as I launched the kite but he claimed he didn't know about it. I was so not amused.
Happy ending is he paid the repair costs and the kite still flies in fact I was flying it just a couple of weekends ago in Northern Ireland.

Better to risk breaking your neck than to never look up at the sky.
