Wide Angle lens. 4 Years, 3 Months ago
Can anyone recommend a website I can order wide angle lenses from?

I went in to a couple of shops in Edinburgh today and they were useless!

I have looked on ebay but would like to buy from elsewhere if possible.

What shops did you try?

On Shandwick place there is Jessops and across the road is Black and Lizars. If you speak to the right person in Jessops they will actually tell you which would be the best shop in Edinburgh to go to for whatever you require. For a lens I was referred to a shop just off the Meadows. Never did get there though.

I went in to Youngs on Morrison street and then went in to the Sony / Panasonic video camera shop near Haymarket.

Will try and locate the shop off the meadows as its close to my work

Cheers, I will check them out. Just want to get a wide angle lens so I can take video and photos of the rider and kite in the same image.

http://www.digitaltoyshop.co.uk

Will be dropping them an email later today to see if they can help me. Ive found the lens I want just need some advice now. Does anyone else use a WA lens for kite stuff?

Ive seen lenses from .75 to .30, ive read the smaller the number the wider the view but how wide do I need to go.....

hi O hows things???

depends what your looking for...

.75 will give you a bit more in your frame withought giving you a stroing fisheye type barrel distortion. a .3 on the other hand will give you probably about 180 field of view with really strong distortion of the image. this can be handy and look nice but can be pretty naff if overused IMHO

best bet would be to take camcorder along and see if you can put them on and see what you think...

the clip-on fisheye i had for my camcorder i think was somewhere between .5 and .3, nice used in moderation

i currently use the sony .6 wide angle pretty much all the time on my camcorder, gives very little ( barely noticable ) distorion on wide and you can zoom right in with it and still get pretty good qaulity so you dont have to remove it when the subject moves a little further away...

Just the person Was just thinking I need to quiz you about this, and now you are back I will me quizing you even more.
I think I will go for more view less distortion, having that fish eye thing going on is fine but this is for use 95% of the time while taking kiting photos / video.

Good to see your back safe and well mate! Need to catch up soon!
