Flexifoil Traction Extreme Control Bar 3 Years, 6 Months ago
Hi Yall,

So I've just bought a second hand Blade IV with an 'extreme control bar' thinking i could use this bar without a harness.

Now I'm wondering whether i should buy some handles to get started, or just get a harness and be done with it?

Any advice from those further down the road would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Graeme

most folk i have come across use foils on handles - probably so you have the option of adding brake line turning which is particularly useful in lower winds.
i got a 4.9 blade 4 earlier this year and stuck it on a bar - didnt have 1 good session on it until i put it back on handles then it was fine but cant explain why

I'd say go and buy some handles and kite killers - it'll be cheaper than having to fork out on a harness and it's safer. Unless you have a fair amount of experience I wouldn't recommend hooking into a Blade - it's a fighter and it'll slap your rear end if you put it in the wrong place...

I would reccomend handles for the blade. As mentioned above, the blade is a fairly lifty kite - if you get caught out you will know about it if you're hooked into a harness. Handles with kite killers on would be the safest option as it gives added safety, control and also the ability to transfer onto a harness when you choose .

does kinda depend on what your wanting to do....

i had my old 4.9 on a bar years back and preffered it for boarding with and the safety was better ( although that was pre kitekillers anyway... )

was always dead easy to swithc back to handles for a wee static session....
