Morning all. I'm heading over to Ardnamurchan for a few days on Thursday. Anyone been kiting over there? I suspect Owains folks are going to be my closest kiting neighbours, so any tips on top beaches?

Yes Ranald, that would be good. Last time I was at Ardnamurchan was for M/Cycle camping weekend rallys back in the 70's , then we never reached the actual coast just a massive field slightly inland.

Sorry Ranald, nope never been to Ardnamurchan or if I have it wasnt with kiting in mind so no idea what is their, my folks might be the closest neighbours to the place but all that water between the island and Ardnamurchan causes some problems

I've been round there by boat and don't recal seeing much in the way of beaches to the south. I think 'round the corner' there is a beach- half the fun is in the discovery isn't it?
Just think, you might be the first kiter there...

your memory serves you well. Wully. Ardnamurchan was beautiful but the beaches are scarce. We were only over for a couple of days so could only explore a wee corner. Sanna bay was our kiting spot and it was excellent - big steady winds and loads of scudding. but it isn't big and only suitable for static flying. The sand is the of the gorgeous West Coast variety and was nice and hard so might suit a board but just not enough room to get going with a buggy (especially as you have a fairly long walk in to the beach)

Sooooo ..... for a romantic holiday, 10/10. For the next TK expedition 1/10! Fun in discovering and flying a kite on an empty beach 20/10 !!!
